mode transport planning was appointed by Bellway Homes to develop a comprehensive transport planning strategy in support of a new settlement within the Keresley Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE).
The development proposal comprises of 550 new homes; supported with public open space, play areas, landscaping and contributions to strategic highway infrastructure at Tamworth Road and Fivefield Road in Keresley, which is located approximately 4 miles north-west of Coventry city centre and 3 miles from Junction 3 of M6 motorway.
The traffic modelling package, which has been undertaken in close consultation with Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and Highways England, demonstrated that the delivery of a new relief road would help to ease congestion and facilitate the delivery of the wider SUE. The application also includes a comprehensive public transport strategy that will enable the full delivery of the masterplan proposals, as well as providing wider benefits to the west of Coventry during the plan period. mode transport planning’s inputs included:
- design of new access from Tamworth Road and Fivefield Road;
- consideration of a new single carriageway link road;
- improvements to a number of junctions in Kerelsey area
- improvements to a junction in Warwickshire;
- improvements to Junction 3 access to M6;
- new bus services and associated infrastructure;
- new cycle and pedestrian routes;
- a robust Travel Plan promoting sustainable modes of travel;
- the production of a comprehensive Transport Assessment; and
- detailed s106 discussion.
The planning application went before Planning Committee on 4th March 2021 who resolved to grant permission.
