Braintree Village is undergoing an exciting transformation. It will be getting a huge facelift over the next few years. This will not only enhance the look and feel of Braintree Village, but will provide the very best outlet shopping experience, in the heart of Essex.
mode transport planning was appointed to deliver a full transport strategy in support of the new anchor store at Braintree Retail Village and the design of the new access from the A120, with the scope of works including:
- preparing drawings with civil engineering inputs on the proposed access to Braintree Village from the A120;
- detailed analysis and breakdown of existing visitors’ trips across a variety of modes;
- liaison and meetings with Essex County Council officers;
- preparation of a comprehensive travel plan; and
- preparation of construction method statement.
In addition, mode was able to successfully negotiate on the client’s behalf that Braintree Village should be considered a key tourist attraction in the area (similar to Bicester Village). Therefore, it should be promoted as such on the surrounding highway network. In partnership with Essex County Council and their signage strategy for the county. mode is currently liaising with Essex to promote Braintree Village as a leisure and tourist destination, with all signs being rebranded from ‘Freeport’ to ‘Braintree Village’ and changed to the internationally recognised brown background with white lettering for tourist destinations.
