mode transport planning was appointed by Berkeley Homes “St Joseph” to undertake the transportation work to support a planning application for a new residential scheme at Shadwell Street on the edge of Birmmgham city centre.
The development, to be known as Snow Hill Wharf, involves the demolition all of the existing office and warehousing units on the site and to replace them with five new buildings These range from three to 21 storeys, containing 157 one-bedroom, 218 two-bedroom and 29 three-bedroom apartments.
There will also be three landscaped podium gardens, concierge service, gymnasium and cinema room. Alongside this, there will be parking provision for 139 cars; including, five charging points for electric vehicles, and space for over 40 bicycles.
The transport assessment (including a sound access strategy) mainly focused on the non motorised access options to the site. mode’s inputs included:
- access strategy and assessment;
- increased transport facilities;
- parking allocation and planning;
- overall reduction in car use;
- supporting transport assessment; and
- production of a travel plan.
A resolution to grant planning permission was awarded on 15th February 2018.
