Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Hospitals
The Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust appointed mode transport planning to provide highways and transportation advice for the extension of the staff car parks at each of their two hospital sites located in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
Transport Planning Support
Due to a high demand for car parking spaces at both the hospitals led to errant car parking across the hospital sites. Subsequently staff, patients and visitors struggled to get to the hospitals.
mode transport planning has been involved with the scheme from planning stage of the proposals and have followed on to complete the following works to reach highway approval:
- Parking accumulation and circulation review;
- Layout and masterplanning input;
- Preparation of Transport Statements;
- Assisting with updating the existing Staff Travel Plan; and
- Negotiations with Kent County Council and Highways England.
Application Submitted
The planning application was submitted in January 2020, due to the unprecedented COVID-19 global pandemic the operations of the hospitals sites evolved.
Therefore, it was necessary to undertake negotiations throughout 2020 with Kent County Council and Highways England highways approval was granted in February 2021.
