Friarsgate Costa Coffee Drive Thru

Project Summary

mode transport planning were appointed to assist on one of the first drive-thru coffee shops in the West Midlands; this new store for Costa Coffee will provide coffee, snacks and lunch for local business to either sit in and relax, or simply grab a quick coffee fix on the go via the drive-thru.

The striking design of the store makes a bold visual statement, therefore immediately drawing the attention and curiosity of visitors as they pass the the Friarsgate business park on the A34 Stratford Road into Birmingham.

mode provided the filling inputs to the planning application process:

• Design of 87 space car park;
• Inputs to circulation of site;

• Discussions and inputs with land owner;
• Transport statement to support a 100 seat restaurant; and

• Negotiations on S106 contributions to improve pedestrian connectivity.

The site was awarded planning consent during October 2012.
