mode transport planning is appointed to assist with the planning application to demolish the existing petrol station and car sales showroom and replace it with a Lidl foodstore and associated car parking and access.

Following pre-application dialogue, the mode team prepared a detailed Transport Assessment to accompany the planning application. The key challenges on this site being the congestion occurring on Whalebone Lane South at present and therefore, a need to assess the impact of the addition of a foodstore to this existing situation.

In addition, the emerging London Plan draft parking standards present a challenging situation for bulk-goods operators as there remains a residual need for some parking for this type of operation. mode was successful in securing parking at a level that the site needs to operate typically without overspill parking in the surrounding area.

Planning permission was granted in August 2020 and mode has been engaged since this time to discharge the transport related Planning Conditions relating to Delivery and Servicing, the Lidl Travel Plan and inputting to the Construction Traffic Management Plan.
