The Landing

Full Transport Assessment of Opportunity Area

Redevelopment and regeneration of the Broadway Opportunity Area in Maidenhead, Berkshire. This includes for new ground floor retail & cafes, office and residential units located in the heart of the town centre.

mode assisted with the preparation of a full transport assessment and various other inputs into the design of the scheme and supporting documentation. The focus of this work was to ensure the town centre development can be as sustainable as possible, whilst balancing parking numbers and providing enhanced facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Of particular note in terms of the value added to the project by mode and general involvement, were the provision of new access for all land uses from Broadway, inputs to a stunning central public space to be known as Lantern Circus, investment in local bus stops and services on Broadway and Queen Street, new pathways through the site to better connect the railway station, Nicholson’s Shopping Centre and the High Street, upgraded pedestrian crossings on York Street and Broadway, the widening of Queens Street to enhance pedestrian connectivity, as well as a new, modernised crossing (“a pedestrian scramble”) at King Street and Queen Street, creating a seamless link with the railway station and Elizabeth Line.
