Transport Planning Strategy
mode transport planning was appointed by G3S, which is a joint venture between gbpartnerships, 3 Willows and Shorwell Projects to develop a comprehensive transport planning strategy in support of a prominent student apartment block in Coventry with space for more than 420 students within a 19-storey tower.
The scheme represented a car free development (with the exception of mobility impaired spaces) with a key focus non motorised users. mode’s input included:
- pre-application discussions with Coventry City Council to agree parameters of the subsequent assessment;
- detailed pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure review to inform opportunities and constraints plan for suitable mitigation measures;
- car parking management plan to manage the expected demand at the start and end of terms with students moving in and out of the development;
- transport statement; and
- travel plan.
Spacious Living
The development proposal comprises of 329 cluster bedrooms and 94 one-bedroom studios; the development will also feature a sky lounge dining and roof terrace with a 270-degree view, reception and office, presentation room, games room, break-out space and laundry. It includes 140 secure cycle spaces and six disabled car parking spaces.
mode transport planning was appointed to prepare transport input to a scheme that will provide over 400 beds through 60 student clusters providing 339 bedrooms and 96 one-bedroom studios alongside a sky lounge dining and roof terrace with a 270 degree view, reception and office, presentation room, games room, break-out space and laundry.
The planning application went before Planning Committee on 4th March 2021 who resolved to grant permission.
